Helping parents nurture healthy babies

Sling Safety

Feeding our babies and burping them are just one of the topics we
cover here.  As moms, we are all trying to keep our babies safe and
healthy.  One of the joys of motherhood is carrying and cradling your
newborn and keeping them close to you.  Many moms use baby slings to
carry their babies while keeping their hands free.  It's also a nice
way to carry the baby before and after a feeding.  Recently, however a
brand of baby slings from  Infantino were recalled because of
questions about their safety. Unfortunately, very small babies, or
those who were born prematurely may be more susceptible if they are
curled up too tight, with their chins resting on their chests.

What parents should look for are slings that help the baby keep their
head more upright and follow the instructions.  This also reminds that
it's important to use those mini-neck rolls or mini- neck pillows to
gently cradle the baby's head in the car seat, swing or other carrier
when they're young and don't have the neck control that they'll
develop later.

Most baby slings are perfectly safe to use, but if you have a recalled
brand, then by all means return it.
