Insuring and Ensuring good care
Kudos to the Longhorn state. As of this month, Texas has a law on the books that requires insurance comapnies to reimburse families for amino acid formula.
Many babies have digestive problems and need this formula. But, it's expensive---about $40 a can. The problem is, families whose babies depend on it, have no choice but to shell out the money. In Texas, now they don't. Insurance companies do and that's how it should be.
But Texas is only the 13th state to mandate this. The rest of the states need to get on board. In this day and age, and in this country, it's unfathomable that many families are left without this support.
This is not a choice. It's a medical necessity.
