Helping parents nurture healthy babies

My Holiday Wish List

Well, we're in the throws of the frenetic holiday season, and there's a lot to be thankful for.  But there are still a lot of things on my wish list.

Here's what I'm thankful for:

  • Breastfeeding rates, though not at the level the government wants, are rising.
  • We're lucky enough to have such a safe alternative to breastfeeding for those who choose not to for one reason or another.  Formula is the most highly scrutinized food on the market, as it should be.
  • Several states have laws on the books that make it a right to breastfeed in public without being harrassed.

My wish list is longer:

  • I'd like us to get on board with more prgressive nations and mandate PAID maternity leaves.
  • Longer matnerity leaves
  • Workplaces should have to provide clean, private places for nursing women to pump.
  • Barring # 3, I'd like tax incentives for businesses that provide clean, private places for nursing women to pump
  • What I really want, is for everyone to respect the fact that the way women choose to feed their children is a personal decision, and to understand that whatever they choose is right for them and their families.  We need to stop judging each other.  There are way too many other things in life to fight over.

Happoy Holidays everyone!

Do moms know best? We believe they do, but the government may not..

Your freedom to choose between breast and bottle-feeding could be in jeopardy.
