Staying Healthy This Holiday
If you’re a mom with a baby or babies under 12 months old, here are
some unusual and suprising tips for staying healthy this holiday season.
#1 Cover up the car seat – If you’re traveling in an airport or just
have the baby in a stroller at the mall or grocery store, whenever
possible, cover up the car seat with a loose thin blankie. This keeps
the germs away from curious strangers who may be inclined to touch
your baby or worse yet, sneeze or cough in their direction.
#2 No one holds the baby until they wash their hands – be a stickler
on this one. Remember how paranoid you were when you first brought the baby home? Go back to those over-protective days and insist on the
hand washing. Though the number of H1N1 cases is declining, children
are still at risk for a serious case of the flu.
#3 Wear a hat – Really? Yes, make sure that both you and the baby
stay nice and snuggly warm this season. And while you’re at it, cover
up the baby’s delicate ears.
#4 Keep baby Tylenol and baby Motrin in the medicine cabinet. Avoid
using any over the counter cold remedies for children under 4. Check
with your pediatrician for what’s best. And be sure your have a
working thermometer.
Good luck and have a safe and healthy holiday season.
