Tips to keep you healthy this summer
Many moms worry about their babies getting overheated this summer. Here are a few simple tips to help keep everyone cool as a cucumber and healthy.
Stay in the shade as much as possible. If it’s not shady, then bring an umbrella or some type of portable protection from the sun.
Hats work. Protect your little one’s head and face with a sun hat, preferably in a light shade or white, to reflect the sun.
Dress the baby in layers, so that if it’s really hot, you can peel them off and leave them in a t-shirt
Don’t forget the sunscreen- use a stick for the baby’s face and back of the neck. If it’s spray on, then squirt of spray into your hands and then massage into their delicate skin.
Pool party anyone? Grab some waterproof diapers and head to the pool. Stay in the shade if possible. Watch for signs that the baby’s getting too cold, if their lips are blue, time to towel off.
Hollywood Baby! Have your little one wear sunglasses to protect their sensitive eyes.
Feed frequently, breast or bottle, but please don’t substitute water. Your baby needs all the other nutrients in breast milk or formula.
Rest, rest and more rest. The heat can be tiring and leave everyone feeling a little irritable. Get plenty of rest so you can enjoy the summer.
