Baby Nurses
Does it really take a village to take care of a new baby? Well, it certainly seems that way sometimes, especially in the middle of the night. Can you believe how often these little ones need to eat and be changed? When we advise parents that babies need to eat every 2-3 hours, we neglect to mention that sometimes it takes 1 hour to change, feed them and then start the whole process over again in 20 minutes.
A friend likes to say, these are “long days” when you may be thinking that you will never get more than 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep and will be on happy, yet tiring treadmill of caring for a newborn. Some of us are lucky to have family who can step in and lend a hand, others hire a Baby Nurse. For parents of twins, this is one expense that I highly recommend, especially a night nurse.
Baby nurses can make the difference between struggling to enjoy the bliss of your baby’s first few months and actually being awake, aware and recharged enough to enjoy them. Any help is good help, even if it’s an afternoon a week.
Not everyone is cut out to be a pioneer, doing everything for themselves and their families without help. When I think about it, from the beginning of time, new mommies had lots of help from relatives and maybe even the village.
