Sleeping Through the Night?
What if your baby likes to get up throughout the night to eat? Let’s say, every 2 to 3 hours.
Sorry, they all like to get up in the middle of the night to eat. What? You mean there is no such thing anymore as 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep? But, all the experts say that you need 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Huh?
When should your baby be able to sleep through the night? When will they give us a break and sleep through the night? When can I stop yelling at my husband and pushing, cajoling and trying to persuade him to get up, please, please, can you just let me get another hour of sleep?
Did you know that lack of sleep is the number one cause of irritability? Bad moods are the side effect of little sleep. It’s a wonder our species survived! Lack of sleep is no fun. No Duh! Of course I know that, you’re thinking, I’m ready to bite the head off anyone who gets in my way, except the baby.
Here’s the scoop on that. Remember the number 12. Babies can sleep through the night when they are 12 pounds or 12 weeks.
Many new moms are lucky to live near family who can help with the new baby and the kids. Others gratefully accept any and all help that’s offered by family and friends. Others aren’t so lucky.
