Helping parents nurture healthy babies

Baby Showers

What do you give at a baby shower?  Presents for the new mom?  Gift cards for dinner out, a spa, or new clothes.  Equipment for the baby, adorable clothes, books?

The great thing about Baby Showers, is that everyone brings their own priorities and their own personalities to the party.  The gifts are often a reflection of the giver’s own experiences and hopes for the newborn.

Here’s some of the most useful gift ideas, I’ve seen:

1. The Go Pillow, this doubles as a blanket, a breastfeeding pillow and can be used later on as a nap blanket for your toddler.

2. A selection of bottles and nipples.  Even moms who plan to breastfeed often pump and need a variety to figure out which ones will work for their unique baby.

3. Extra cloth diapers. These can be used as burp cloths, as a pad when you have to change the baby out on the go, to wipe up messes, to protect babies with sensitive skin from exposures to polyester clothing, and as a soft lovey.

4. An ear thermometer.  When you need one, it’s often the middle of the night.

5. A coupon for a girls night out, to be redeemed as often as necessary.
