Diaper Bags
by Barbara Dehn - 03rd October 2008
Diaper bags have changed a lot in the last 20 years. I remember shocking sherbet colors pressed onto thick crenulated plastic with tumbling bears, bunnies and baby ducks. The bags of old, were large, cumbersome and had 1 or 2 compartments if you were lucky. You could lose a baby in those bags. Walking into a room lugging a baby and the decidedly non-project runway bag was like carrying a sign that said, I'm a new mom and I'm overwhelmed. Now we have sleek, fashionable designer diaper bags that are ultra-hip and functional. These hot bags have the tags and logos of bona-fide fashion designers, and may be mistaken for an upscale purse that sports a price tag that's equivalent to a week's salary.
Unless you've also got a baby on your hip, few people know that nestled inside that beautiful designer shoulder bag is a change of clothes, a bottle or 3, a sippy cup, an ice pack, several diapers, a few ziplock bags, a snack for you and at least 3200 other things that you just might need.
Here's the question? What's essential for your diaper bag?
