Labor of Love

It's a labor of love, having a baby, no matter how you become a parent.  Labor, a C-Section, a surrogate, adoption.  Each has their own path towards parenthood. I like to say to my patients that the complicated, winding path to being a mommy or daddy is a journey with a treasure at the end.  You never know what twists and turns are coming up in your journey.  You can prepare for most challenges, but there are many surprises.  And, we prepare so much for the birth, and then afterwards, there's another journey that's a lot longer and more complicated.  Just when you think you've arrived, guess what, a new labor of love begins.  
Everyone's journey is different, each has some similarities and some differences.  Everyone has challenges, you just don't get to choose which ones you get.  This labor day, I hope that everyone reading will share their story of their particular labor of love, and what surprised them about the journey.  And for some laughs, check out the video on my website, Barb's Daily Dose.  It's a commercial but very appropos.  Enjoy!
