Helping parents nurture healthy babies

Soy formulas get insurance coverage in Maryland

Kudos to the great state of Maryland, who just decided to provide insurance coverage for soy-based formulas for infants who have milk allergies.  This is welcome news for families struggling to find the healthiest alternatives for their babies. Thankfully, milk allergies are uncommon, but they do cause the full gamut of symptoms ranging from eczema on the face, elbows, and behind the knees to severe diaper rash and blood in the stools.  Recognizing a milk allergy may take time as multiple other causes are eliminated.  In the meantime, parents need answers and solutions for their little ones. The process of elimination diets are not fun and trying several formulas until you find the one that works takes time and diligence. It’s nice to see Maryland taking the lead in this area.
