Oh Canada!

I love what our neighbors to the north are doing. Starting last week, restaurants in Toronto ( that country's largest city) began displaying decals in their windows alerting the public that breastfeeding in their eateries is not only accepted but encouraged! That seems very progressive and pro-active if you ask me.
The decals are part of a voluntary initiative called Breastfeeding Friendly. Anytime. Anywhere. The city's 6,100 restaurants are invited to post the decals and to register online letting mother know that breastfeeding is welcome. Along with the decals, restuarants received helpful information for owners on how to deal with customers who complain. This is the second phase of a two-year, city-wide public health program to de-stigmatize public breastfeeding. . The first phase kicked off with decals put in all city-run properties. The last phase will traget retail outlets.
Go Canada!
And....in other news ...as of today Indiana joins the ranks of other states mandating more workplace rights for new moms. Employers with at least 25 employees must provide reasonable paid breaks, a private location and a refrigerator for a woman employee to express breast milk for her infant. Importantly, the law specifically states that a toilet stall doesn't qualify as a private location!
