Every week we pose a new Question concerning issues around feeding your baby. Your answers help us to take the pulse of what's important to you and what works and doesn't work for you. Periodically I thought I'd publish the results of those polls so that you can see how the issues are resonating with others. So here goes!
We asked how new mothers fed their babies. More than 41% of you breastfed as opposed to about 29% who used formula. Another 29% used both.
For those of you who breastfed, there was some encouraging news. By far the majority (nearly 64%) said you did so for six or more months! Kudos! Nearly 10% did so for 3-6 months and nearly 14% of you breastfed up to 12 weeks. Clearly breastfeeding was the preferred method. No matter how long you do it for, that's great!
Now onto some questions that have national and workplace implications.
One hundred percent of our respondents said our federal government should mandate paid maternity leave. I couldn't agree more. It's time to call, write and email your congressional members. Come on ladies! We have the power to influence!
More than 95% of you think it's ok for a mother to breastfeedin public. Many states have laws stipulating that, but more needs to be done.
And finally, 80% of you think your company should allow mothers to bring babies to work. Hmmmm.
Keep the responses coming. They're not only interesting but also provide valuable insight!
